Where did the name Nova Therapy come from?
If you look up the definition of a nova star, you’d find that it’s a star that suddenly becomes super bright before slowly returning to its normal state. Back in the day, before telescopes could see deep into space, astronomers thought novas were “new stars.” They weren’t new—they were just hidden, waiting for the right moment to shine brightly enough for us to notice.
That idea inspired the name Nova Therapy. Life’s darkest moments can feel overwhelming, but they also hold a unique beauty—they reveal the light that’s always been within us. Even in the hardest times, there is hope, strength, and a path forward. Just like a nova star, we all have moments when we burn brighter than usual—taking on more energy, emotions, or stress than we’re used to. But with the right support, we can process what we’re carrying and return to a steadier, healthier version of ourselves.
At Nova Therapy, we’re here for those moments when life feels heavy, and you’re searching for clarity, healing, and the strength to move forward. Even when life feels its darkest, remember: that’s when the stars appear. That’s when hope and light come into focus. And that’s when you discover the strength that’s been inside you all along.
Do you provide in person therapy?
Unfortunately we do not provide in person therapy sessions. If you are looking strictly for in person therapy sessions we can provide referrals!
Do you provide virtual therapy?
Yes! Cool thing with virtual therapy is that you get to sit on your own couch rather than ours in your PJ’s! You’ll have access to live video sessions on a secure platform and this means ours services are offered statewide!
I need therapy for my child, do you see children?
Nova Therapy does not see children below the ages of 11, however, we can assist by giving you referrals!
Do you provide emotional support animal letters?
Yes! The evaluation is 1 hour and the total cost of an ESA evaluation is $125. If you meet the need for an emotional support animal, you will receive your letter by email within 72 business hours of your evaluation.
In some cases, a housing provider may also request that we complete additional forms or include more information in an ESA letter. While you’re certainly not obligated to provide specifics about your medical condition, we can add details upon your request. The fee to complete additional forms is $65 per form.
Please note we do not provide assessments for commonly restricted dog breeds and there is no refund for a denied ESA letter. We also do not provide ESA letters for air travel due to recent changes to the Air Carrier Access Act.
What is an LPC Associate?
A Licensed Professional Counselor Associate is a provisionally licensed professional counselor who has completed a master’s level counseling program, passed necessary national examinations, and is currently working toward full licensure by completing a designated amount of supervised clinical counseling hours. An LPC Associate is qualified to provide mental health services.

You can also call or text the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-8255.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, we do! Check out our Insurance Accepted page for a list of insurances we are in network with. Please note that only our LPC’s accept insurance, but all therapists can provide superbills to help with reimbursement!
What is a superbill?
A superbill is a powerful tool that helps you take full advantage of your out-of-network insurance benefits. Think of it as a detailed receipt for the services you’ve received, including all the information your insurance company needs to process a claim. By submitting a superbill to your insurance, you may be able to get reimbursed up to 80% of your therapy costs putting money back in your pocket. It’s a straightforward way to make your therapy more affordable while continuing to prioritize your mental health if a therapist you want to see is not in network with your insurance.
How do you handle payment?
Payment is due at time of service provided. All clients are required to have a credit card on file for processing payment. You will be charged at the beginning of each session via the credit card on file.
