How Insurance Billing Works

Understanding how insurance billing works can make using your benefits for therapy sessions easier:

  • Verification: We will verify your insurance through Headway to see what’s covered and any costs like copays or deductibles.
  • Scheduling: Once you know your coverage, book a session with one of our therapists and give them your insurance info.
  • Billing: After your session, we’ll handle the billing with your insurance company. They’ll send you an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) showing what’s covered and any amount you might owe.
  • Transparency: We’re upfront about costs. If you have questions about billing or payments, our team is here to help.

Out-of-Network Options

If we don’t accept your insurance, you might still be able to get reimbursed for therapy sessions through out-of-network benefits. Check with your insurance provider to see if they cover out-of-network services. We’ll provide you with the necessary paperwork (superbills) to submit for reimbursement.

Superbills

A superbill is a powerful tool that helps you take full advantage of your out-of-network insurance benefits. Think of it as a detailed receipt for the services you’ve received, including all the information your insurance company needs to process a claim. By submitting a superbill to your insurance, you may be able to get reimbursed up to 80% of your therapy costs putting money back in your pocket. It’s a straightforward way to make your therapy more affordable while continuing to prioritize your mental health if a therapist you want to see is not in network with your insurance.
